Oh, what happened?
There’s something that’s invisible,
raising its head, snarling.
Do you see its teeth? Try not
to stare at it. Look at me instead.
Oh, what happened?
There’s some things you can’t hide,
one of them found in my head.
Touch me and you’ll soon find
the wasting of limbs and disappointment,
I haven’t called again.
Oh, what happened?
Try detect you when I’m sleeping,
you looking down, hair covering those watery eyes,
hidden from view once more.
God only knows why you aren’t
quite dead yet, some beast purring
in me now, a beast I cannot kill
Oh, what happened?
In a wave you say goodbye…
Hands crushing your shoulders, I’m
begging again, but what has been done?
Some do need to survive. I’m long
destroyed. You still could have some life.
Will you put my hands away?
Oh, what happened?
Maybe you never return…
